Beliefs & CORE VALUES

"They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

Acts 2:42

We believe in one God—the Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is the creator of heaven and earth and the sustainer of our lives. He is all powerful (omnipotent), present everywhere eternally (omnipresent), and all knowing (omniscient).
Genesis 1:1 | Deuteronomy 6:4 |Hebrews 11:3

We believe that Jesus is the one and only begotten Son of God. He is God in the flesh, fully human and fully God, perfectly unified.

Jesus was born of the virgin Mary. While on earth, He was tempted as we are, but was sinless. God laid on him the sins of us all and He died for our sins. He then rose from the dead for our salvation, our deliverance from Death unto eternal life. He ascended into heaven where he reigns and intercedes continually before the Father.
John 1:18 | Philippians 2:5-11 |
Colossians 1:15-18

We believe that Holy Spirit is unified with the Father and the Son.

The Holy Spirit is fully God. The Spirit draws all people to Christ, guides believers to truth, and comforts believers in their struggles and enables them to fulfill the mission of Christ. The Spirit convicts the world of its sin and guilt and judges the world concerning righteousness.  The Spirit is God in the present tense.
John 16:8-11 | Acts 2:38 |
2 Corinthians 3:17-18

We believe that the Bible is the collection of God’s inspired written word.

Human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, wrote the Bible. It is the authoritative rule of faith and practice for Christians and the Church. We believe that anyone who approaches the Bible with the same care used in interpreting literature and language can understand it.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ
on earth.

The Church is constituted of all followers of Christ continuing to do Jesus’ mission. The church has many members but one head—Jesus. All members of the body are important.
1 Corinthians 12:12-27 | 1 Peter 2:9-10

We believe that Christ will return again.

Christ will come bodily a second time to restore creation to Himself and judge the living and the dead.
Acts 1:11 | 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 | Revelation 20:11-15

We believe salvation is found in Christ alone, by grace, through faith, offered freely to all people.

Faith is demonstrated through repentance, confession, baptism by immersion, and a life of discipleship. Baptism is how we say “yes” to Jesus, by participating with Him in His death, burial, and resurrection by being immersed in water and proclaiming our allegiance.
Acts 2:37-38 | Galatians 3:26-29 |
Ephesians 2:4-10

We believe the Lord’s Supper (Communion/Eucharist)
is an identification with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection personally instituted to serve as a reminder and means of communion.

We consider communion a memorial and an expression of fellowship with the Lord and with one another. Following the example of the believers in Acts, we observe communion weekly. The Lord’s Supper at TMC is not limited to our members but is open to all who believe in him.
Matthew 26:26-28 | Acts 2:42-47 | Acts 20:7 |
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We get real about our need for Jesus and invite you to get real with us. Come as you are, it’s safe to be a work in progress.
We take God at His Word. We trust that He has authored all that we need to live like Jesus.
We ask big things of God and trust Him for the results. We are convinced that God answers when we pray.
We don’t settle for faith in name only. We each put our unique abilities into action to benefit others.
We treasure God’s goodness. We respond with outrageous generosity.
We believe excellence honors God and inspires people. We bring our best.
We believe no one should walk alone. We are better together.
We are convinced that God wants a relationship with everyone. We aim to know Him and make Him known.
