The Journey in the Wilderness is Underway

The floor of the new building is now finished and steel formation teams are raising the support columns. The shape of the new building is now evident. Other crews are finishing the grading and gravel of the new parking lots. All utilities are now into the site and much work has occurred along Franklin Road for sidewalks, landscaping, and a deceleration lane. A congregational tour of the new building is set for Sunday, August 10th, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Be sure to pick up a Construction Zone Pass to go in your car window if you plan to take a short walking tour of the new facility. The new facility when finished in early 2009 will be 35,000 sq. ft. in size.

The new building will have a sanctuary which will comfortably seat 760 adults in a single service, classrooms for our youth and children from nursery age through high school, and offices for our church staff. The new worship facility is the first of several planned phases for the 40 acre campus…the next phase being a family life center which would include a gym and classrooms for the youth.

One thing that members will love to see disappear will be shuttle buses, which are now essential to accommodate those parking off-site because of limited parking places at the present campus. The facility will open with 400 parking places. The address of the new church is 3500 W. Franklin Road in Meridian, and temporary offices are now located at 440 W. Pennwood in Meridian.

One of the distinct features of the new worship facility will be a tall lighted cross in the narthex or entrance area that will extend through the ceiling and above the roof line. Anyone driving on I-84 should be able to see this distinctive feature.
